End-of-Year Giving: A Strategy with Benefits

Distributions (withdrawals) from Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs) are typically treated as taxable income. Did you know that if you are age 70 1/2 or older, you can make a tax-free donation to Honor Flight AZ with a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) directly from your traditional or Roth IRA? And if you are age 73+, this distribution may satisfy some or all your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) for the year AND reduce your taxable income (even if you don’t itemize deductions). The 2025 QCD limit is up to $108,000 per donor.*

The BENEFITS of this giving strategy are:

  • An immediate impact in supporting the Honor Flight Arizona program – the dollars you donate send veterans on flights to Washington, DC to see their memorials and to honor and thank them for their service.
  • Reduction in your taxable income for the year.
  • Your RMD is satisfied, in whole or in part (if you are 73 or older).

Making a charitable donation in this way may be done by contacting your IRA administrator and requesting a QCD amount be transferred directly to Honor Flight AZ, Federal Tax ID number 26-4015751 no later than December 31, 2025.

THANK YOU for considering a gift to Honor Flight Arizona!
